Boy With 1,000 Faces!

The other day, Jeff was flipping channels, and passed by a monster truck show. He said to Tyler, "Look at that truck, buddy (Tyler is completely obsessed with trucks lately)". Tyler was so excited. He made the funniest faces and sounds, and here are a few faces that I captured. I've never seen him have more fun with his dad than in this 10 minute period of time. I guess Jeff can stop worrying about the shoe and purse obsession!

There were about six other really cute ones, but they came out too blurry. Boohoo.

My Dad!

I know it's not Father's Day, but anyone that knows my dad, knows what a character he is. He is not afraid to speak his mind on any subject. And, as grim as it may sound, my parents welcome the idea of death because of all of the pain and suffering they have had in this life, including burying two children. So I just had to share this story my mom told me today, which is so typical of my dad, and I think it is hilarious.
Ding Dong (doorbell)
Dad (opening the door): "What can I do for you sir?"
Salesman: "Hello sir, we are just going around the area checking to see if one of our salesmen has come by in the past week asking about your interest in our state-of-the-art security system for the protection of you and your family."
Dad: "No he hasn't been by, and I wouldn't be interested even if he had."
Salesman: "Really? It is a really nice, high quality system.....(stops talking as he is cut off)"
Dad: "Listen, if a burglar wanted to break in here and kill me, he'd be doing me a HUGE favor!"
Salesman: (silent for a moment) "Uh...Oh....I'm really sorry to hear that sir, have a nice day."
I love you dad, I couldn't make up stories that good!

The Past Few Days!

I have been meaning to blog for the past few days, but I'm kind of glad that I waited, because today is Mother's Day, and it kind of brings more meaning to me now. On Thursday afternoon, even though I had laundry and other things to do, we spontaneously sat down as a family and watched Marley and Me, which Austin had already seen with his Coco and Nuntle, but I knew Katie would love it because of the dog. Anyway, it felt so good to just all be close and cuddled on the couch, munching popcorn, and just being together as a family.
Then on Saturday morning, (I really love it when this happens), Tyler, Katie, and Austin all end up on our bed, and we talk and laugh and play! We had so much fun just being together, and it really makes me appreciate being a mother, and how precious my family is to me. I know how good I have it, and I couldn't ask for better, sweeter, brighter, or more adorable children. I love them so much, and I love Jeff for giving them to me. I love being a mother, despite the diapers, arguing, screaming, refusing to eat dinner, eating too much candy, temper tantrums, headaches, runny noses, throwing up, breaking things, losing things, wrecking things..........despite all of that......I wouldn't trade my life or my family for anything! I know that they are growing up, and in a few years they are only going to want to be with their friends, so the times like these past few days, I have to say, I cherish! I love these times! I don't want them to end, I just want to breathe them in, and soak them up so that I don't EVER forget them! I hope that I always remember the closeness that we have as a family today! I just wanted to say how much I love my family.
Today was especially nice because we went to my mom's after church, and Jeff and my dad (and my brothers made some attempts to help) made a beautiful fajita dinner for all of us mothers. It was so yummy! And it was especially nice to just be able to sit around and talk while the men waited on us. And I have to say that Jeff has always been very wonderful about Mother's Day. He has always made a huge effort to do everything for me, and really help me have a day off (even though a complete day off is impossible with little kids), but he really tries, and I LOVE YOU HONEY! So thanks for the great day! I can't wait until next year!

I just want to wish all of the mothers I know a very Happy Mother's Day! Especially to my own mother, who is the best listener, the best advice giver, the most darling mother ever! I love you so much. Also, to my sisters, some in this life, some in the next, thank you for the amazing examples of motherhood, and wonderful friends you have been to me. Also, friends, and neighbors, you have touched my life as a mother in more ways than I can count, and I love you all!

AAAAHHHH SWINE FLU!

I have to admit that I am a huge skeptic of all things on the news, and that I know that the media's motto is "if it bleeds, it leads". It's all doom and gloom. I can't tell you how sick I am of hearing about the swine flu. A few years ago was bird flu....and....did you live to tell about it? I am a big fan of Dr. Mercola because he tells it like it is like it or not. The truth of life is that if you are taking care of yourself, and living a healthy lifestyle, your body is designed to fight off all bad things. If you are less than healthy, you have a greater risk to these things, but even so, do some research before you jump on the vaccine, and medicine band wagon. They can be more harmful than the actual illness. I know that these huge drug companies have more money than they know what to do with, and they are behind more than you can possibly imagine.

The truth is that these are the "Latter Days", and there will be many horrible things happening in our lifetime. There will also be many wonderful events. Let's have a little faith in the Lord, and in our bodies. Please read the above article before you do anything to "prevent" the swine flu. And remember, "Now we have a world where people are confused, if you don't believe it go and watch the news. We can get direction, all along our way, if we heed the prophets, follow what they say!"
