January Update!

I don't know about any of you, but Feb is looking like the beginning to my New Year. I don't know what happened in January, but I am glad there are only a few days left. So instead of dwelling on the negative, these are the positives that happened the last two weeks...

Katie got her new glasses!

Finally, a pair that fits and stays on properly!
(I know the hair looks funky in the pic, it looked cute in person)

And this is her eyeglass case...how cute is that!!! She loves this little purse!

Also, Jeff got his annual gardening bug...

He got our 2 garden boxes planted and ready to go (I can't wait for that deliciousness!)

AJ of course got to help out his dad and is showing off his proud work
(These are our tomato and broccoli seedlings)

Jeff tillin' up the garden, getting it ready...what a man!

And after the work...of course comes football....
(At least until the football went over the fence, followed by a large rock, and a lecture from the neighbor)

There was also lots of "male-bonding" time

Ty is already obsessed with video games

Hugs before brother goes to school

Who needs their springhorse when there's a daddy around???

Night-night lovies for Austin...awww how sweet!!

And of course, Ty has to make sure his daddy brushes his teeth

(I sure am proud of my boys!)

And yesterday was the most excitement of all...

Austin lost tooth #4 (sufferin' succotash!)

I can't wait to see how much money I get!!!!!!!

And that about sums up the past few weeks. I will try to be more consistant so that these blogs aren't so long.

Sick & Tired of being Sick & Tired!

Sick! Sick! Sick! Everyone has had the flu in our house in the past 2 weeks. I don't remember if my sleep was ever this interrupted by a newborn...unbelievable! Luckily, it is only a 24 bug for everyone except Tyler (he is taking a little longer to completely get over it), but it is so intense that it takes days and days to get any strength back! There has seemed to be about a 4 day incubation in between everyone getting it, so if I can get through Sunday with no relapses, I think we will finally be in the clear and I can get back to somewhat normal routine. Not to mention, laundry, laundry, laundry. I have done more laundry in the past two weeks than I normally do in two months! Crazy!

So, what can I say that is good about it? Well, I have been able to take more naps during the day (even though I would rather just get a good night sleep). And also, Tyler has started to watch a little bit of cartoons while he has been sick, and it is really nice when your kids will start watching a cartoon or two so that you can finally get something done. Say what you will about the TV being a babysitter, and that moms are bad for letting their kids watch at a young age....Austin learned how to write words at the age of 2 from watching Blues Clues! (I am not even exaggerating)! And Tyler is quite the "little destructor", so if he can be entertained by Sesame Street so that I can unload a dishwasher, then "yea" for me!

Guess blogging time is over...messes to clean, babies to hold, diapers to change, laundry to do, sleep to deprive, etc. etc. etc....

Homework and Schedules and Scouts, Oh My!!!

Is anyone ready for Christmas Break to be over??? I have to admit that the first few days of the break, I was ready to send my kids right back to school...but after a few days, things started getting easier, and it was so nice to have no back and forth to school, no scouts, no extra-cirricular anything! And it was really great when my sister came from Texas, and the cousins all got to play, play, play, non-stop! They had a ball, and I hardly even saw them. Here are the few shots that I did manage to get when they finally tired out on the last day!

Colby & Zac "We're not twins"

Beautiful Tylee "Just one of the guys"

KT, Ty, AJ, Zac, & Colbs hanging out!

Checking out the cotton field behind Mimi's

AJ & Tylee "couldn't love eachother more!"

So tomorrow, it all begins again, the alarm clock, the never-ending laundry piles, the homework, scouts, music, etc., etc., etc....I guess there is a time for all things, and if things were always the same there would be no appreciation for them.

So, Austin will be starting back, but Katie has let her "playtime" take its toll and she is as sick as can be, and was up all last night throwing up. She has had a fever all day, and so she will not be making her return-to-school debut just yet...And even though I will probably be up every hour on the hour (as I was last night), I am determined to set that alarm clock, put a smile on my face, and start the New Year off with a happy attitude! (I can just hear my hubby's reaction to that statement..:)

Wish me luck fellow bloggers... Hey, like I said before, if things were always easy, I would never appreciate how easy things were.

Positive! Positive! Positive!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009!!!!

Welcome to the Shiflet Family Blog....finally up and running, although I guarantee it will be a very slow beginning. I have to thank Becky for without her persistance, and example, I would have never gotten this thing going. I wanted to start the New Year by keeping some kind of record of our family, since I have never been able to be consistent with journal keeping, I hope that this will help me be better!

New Year's Resolutions---1. Take better care of myself physically, spritually, and yes, even mentally! 2. Be a better mom to my kids, and wife to my husband. 3. Who am I kidding, two resolutions is more than I have ever accomplished before, so why don't we just start with those, and if I can keep them going more than a week, then I can always add on more, right?
